Since 15 November 2001, the outpatient specialist care in the town of Mórahalom is operated by the Móra-Vitál Area Health Preservation and Social Public Benefit Society - now known as the Móra-Vitál Outpatient Specialist Care and Spa Centre - a non-profit company owned by the Municipality.Its tasks include the organisation and management of outpatient specialist care, the establishment of the operating conditions of the previously financed and planned new specialist care, the operation and professional management of specialist care. It covers (since July 2010) all the settlements of the Homokháti Sub-region (Mórahalom, Ásotthalom, Zákányszék, Üllés, Ruzsa Öttömös, Pusztamérges, Bordány and Forráskút) for most of the specialised practices. It also receives patients from settlements close to Mórahalom but not belonging to the Sub-region (Röszke, Domaszék)
In its long-term health policy objectives, the Municipality of Mórahalom aims at expanding the possibility of accessing specialised care locally, improving the existing ones and improving the professional equipment.As a first step, the municipality has established new specialised clinics with significant own resources, tender funds and public support. As a result of this investment, three new specialist clinics, a laboratory and their service facilities were built by autumn 2001.
The improvements have not stopped there. With the help of the DAOP - 2007- 4.1.1/B tender of the New Hungary Development Plan, the architectural works of the new Health Centre of the Sub-regional Health Centre were completed by September 2010, with the expansion of the existing infrastructure. This modern, two-storey, barrier-free clinic will house, in addition to the existing and expanding specialised services, new, previously unused services (internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics). In addition to outpatient services, the Móra-Vitál Outpatient and Spa Centre offers a wide range of medical services (also financed by the social security system), as well as wellness and fitness services.
